“Delhi Police Assistant Commissioner’s Son Pushed Into Canal: Arrest Made in Haryana Murder Case”

A suspect has been apprehended for allegedly pushing Lakshya Chauhan, the son of an assistant commissioner of Delhi Police, into a canal in Haryana following a financial dispute, as reported by the police on Friday (January 26). Chauhan, a 26-year-old individual, was supposedly pushed into the canal by two of his friends. The authorities have arrested one of the friends, while the search for the second accused is currently ongoing.

Chauhan, along with his companions, Vikas Bhardwaj and Abhishek, had traveled to Haryana’s Sonepat to attend a wedding function. However, after Chauhan did not return home the following day, his father, ACP Yashpal Singh, filed a missing complaint on Tuesday. The police subsequently converted the complaint into an abduction First Information Report (FIR) after suspecting foul play during the investigation.

On Friday, the case was further escalated to include murder charges, and one person has been arrested in connection with the incident, according to an official statement. Bhardwaj, who works as a clerk for another lawyer at Tis Hazari court, and Abhishek, an acquaintance of Bhardwaj, were both present during the incident.

Revelations from the Interrogation

During the interrogation, Abhishek disclosed that Bhardwaj contacted him on Monday afternoon, inviting him to join him and Chauhan at a wedding in Sonepat. Bhardwaj also informed Abhishek that Chauhan owed him money and would become aggressive whenever asked to repay the loan.

Subsequently, the two friends conspired to eliminate Chauhan. On Monday, Chauhan picked up the accused near Mukarba Chowk in Rohini, Delhi. They arrived at the wedding function in the evening and departed after midnight.

While returning, the group stopped the car near the Munak Canal to relieve themselves. It was at this point that Bhardwaj and Abhishek allegedly pushed Chauhan into the canal and fled the scene in his vehicle. Upon reaching Delhi, Bhardwaj dropped off Abhishek in Narela before departing, as stated by the official. Abhishek was apprehended from his residence in Narela on Thursday.

Based on Abhishek’s statement, he was arrested, and Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code were added to the FIR, the official further added. The police are currently making efforts to locate Chauhan and his car, as well as to apprehend Vikas Bhardwaj.
