Council Bluffs Man Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit in Red Oak

A Council Bluffs resident is facing multiple charges following a thrilling police chase in Red Oak during the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to pull over a vehicle at the intersection of 1st and Cherry Streets in Red Oak shortly before 2 a.m. The driver, later identified as 40-year-old Kyle Anthony Zeigler, refused to comply with the authorities and sped away, leading to a high-speed pursuit through the town’s streets.

During the chase, the vehicle was observed driving without its lights on and at dangerously high speeds. As the pursuit reached the intersection of 4th and Grimes Streets, the driver attempted to turn into an alley but lost control on the snowy road, colliding with a residential house.

The vehicle eventually came to a halt when it became stuck in the snow. Zeigler, disregarding the commands of the deputies, exited the vehicle and engaged in a physical altercation with law enforcement officials.

Following the incident, Kyle Anthony Zeigler was apprehended and now faces several charges. These include driving while barred, which is considered an aggravated misdemeanor, as well as felony eluding, 2nd offense, classified as a class C felony. Additionally, Zeigler is charged with interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor.

Zeigler was subsequently taken into custody and is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail. His bail has been set at $10,000. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Red Oak Police Department, Red Oak Fire and EMS, and Montgomery County Communications in handling the situation.
