FREMONT Convenience Store Robbery Leads to Arrest of Three Suspects and Recovery of $10,000 Worth of Stolen Cigarettes

Police Capture Suspects After Pursuit and Crash in Newark

FREMONT, East Bay – In a successful operation conducted late Monday night, the Fremont Police Department arrested three individuals and seized $10,000 worth of stolen cigarettes following a convenience store robbery. The incident, which occurred on Central Avenue at approximately 10:45 p.m., resulted in a pursuit that ended in neighboring Newark.

According to the store clerk’s statement, two masked suspects forcefully entered the convenience store and proceeded to steal cigarettes from behind the counter. The clerks, fearing the suspects were armed due to their threatening gestures, promptly reported the incident to the authorities. The suspects quickly fled the scene in a getaway vehicle.

While the driver and front passenger attempted to escape on foot, the rear passenger cooperated with the officers and was apprehended at the scene. The front passenger was detained by an officer from the Newark Police Department a short distance away. A foot pursuit ensued, leading to the capture of the driver by Fremont Police officers.

Upon searching the suspect vehicle, law enforcement officials discovered not only the stolen cigarettes from the convenience store but also numerous cartons believed to have been stolen from other local convenience stores. The total value of the recovered items was estimated to be $10,000.
