Significant Drug Bust in Fort Frances Leads to Arrest of Two Individuals

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – A major law enforcement operation conducted on January 24, 2024, resulted in the apprehension of two individuals involved in drug-related offenses in Fort Frances, Ontario.

The Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), in collaboration with the Community Street Crime Unit, the Emergency Response Team, the Kenora Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, and the Treaty Three Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit, executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The operation took place in a residential area on Osborne Street and targeted a vehicle associated with the ongoing investigation.

During the search, law enforcement officers seized a significant quantity of suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine, crack cocaine, oxycodone, fentanyl, and morphine. In addition, approximately $30,000 in cash believed to be linked to drug transactions was confiscated, alongside drug paraphernalia associated with distribution activities. The estimated street value of the seized substances and cash exceeds £500,000.

The individuals apprehended during the operation have been identified as Devon Brumble, a 30-year-old resident of East York, and Justine Chiefson, a 33-year-old individual residing in Fort Frances. Brumble faces charges of possession of a Schedule I substance with intent to traffic, with five counts against him, possession of crime proceeds exceeding £5,000, and obstruction of a peace officer. Chiefson is charged with five counts of possession of a Schedule I substance with the intent to traffic.

Both accused individuals are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on January 25, 2024, to answer the charges brought against them.
