Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic snowmobile accident in New Hampshire claimed the life of a 56-year-old Massachusetts woman. The victim has been identified as Stacey McGarry from Littleton. The incident occurred on Tuesday on Corridor 12 in the town of Berlin, near Androscoggin Valley Hospital.

According to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, Berlin Police officers were the first to arrive at the crash scene. They found McGarry in critical condition and immediately started lifesaving measures. However, despite their efforts, emergency medical services (EMS) personnel were unable to revive her.
Investigators conducted an interview with the only witness to the crash. Based on the witness account, it appears that McGarry and a passenger were traveling west on Corridor 12 when the accident occurred. McGarry failed to negotiate a turn on the trail, causing the snowmobile to veer off the path and hit a rock. The impact launched the snowmobile into the air before colliding with a tree, resulting in fatal injuries to McGarry and ejecting the passenger.
The passenger, although thrown off the snowmobile, miraculously escaped physical harm and promptly called 911 for help. Officials from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department stated that speed and lack of experience are believed to be the primary factors contributing to the crash. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety precautions while operating snowmobiles. It is crucial for riders to adhere to speed limits, have proper training and experience, and always follow the designated trails. Snowmobiling can be an enjoyable winter activity, but it must be done responsibly to prevent accidents and devastating consequences.
