Jesus Ayala Now Charged with Another Attempted Murder

After facing accusations of killing a cyclist, 18-year-old Jesus Ayala is now facing additional charges of attempted murder. Ayala, who has been involved in a series of violent incidents in Las Vegas, is now being prosecuted in the adult court system for his crimes, including the murder of the cyclist.

What Happened To Jesus Ayala? What Did He Do?

A resident of Las Vegas, 18-year-old Jesus Ayala is currently a suspect in a criminal case involving the tragic death of retired police chief Andreas “Andy” Probst, who was fatally attacked while riding his bicycle.

Ayala is now facing an additional charge of attempted murder related to a separate incident that occurred before Probst’s passing. This new accusation comes in addition to the 14 criminal counts Ayala and co-defendant Jzamir Keys are already facing for Probst’s murder.

The latest charge against Ayala stems from an incident that took place on June 27, 2023. During this event, the victim reported being attacked by multiple individuals, resulting in several cuts to his body and a significant laceration near his ear.

A witness at the scene described the attack as “extremely violent” and estimated its duration to be around one minute. One of the assailants was later identified as Jesus Ayala.

Who is Jesus Ayala?

At the time of his initial arrest in August 2023, Jesus Ayala was a 17-year-old resident of Las Vegas. Shortly after the tragic death of retired California police chief Andy Probst, Ayala was taken into custody.

Video footage revealed that Probst was deliberately struck by a vehicle driven by Ayala, and an earlier version of this video went viral, drawing significant attention to the case.

Further investigations into other violent incidents led to Ayala being linked to a stabbing that occurred on June 27 near Washington Avenue and Jones Boulevard.

The victim of the stabbing was able to identify Ayala as his attacker due to a distinctive and prominent tattoo on Ayala’s face. Despite Ayala’s denial of involvement in the stabbing, he remains under scrutiny for the previous murder charge.

Metro police identified Ayala as the driver of the car that struck Probst, with 16-year-old Jzamir Keys as the passenger. Ayala has a criminal history, including encounters with the juvenile justice system. As Nevada allows minors to be prosecuted as adults for murder charges, Ayala’s case has been transferred to the adult court system.

Prior to the Probst incident, Ayala and Keys were allegedly involved in another hit-and-run with a 72-year-old cyclist who miraculously survived. During this incident, Ayala was filming the event while Keys operated the vehicle. If found guilty, Ayala and Keys could face a maximum sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole. It is important to note that defendants who were under the age of eighteen at the time of the offense are not eligible for the death penalty or life without parole in Nevada.
