Escaped Inmate Jonathan Alfaro Still on the Run in Ventura County

Authorities in Ventura County are intensifying their search for an escaped inmate who managed to flee from a detention facility on Thursday night. The inmate, identified as 31-year-old Jonathan Alfaro, was awaiting trial on burglary charges at the time of his escape.

Escape from Kitchen Detail

According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, Alfaro was on kitchen detail when he evaded custody. He was last seen on the facility’s loading dock, and shortly after, he “walked off” the premises at around 7 p.m. Law enforcement deputies were immediately alerted and initiated a search operation in the surrounding area.

Limited Security for Inmate Work

As part of their rehabilitation and to maintain order within the facility, inmates are authorized to work in various capacities around the jail. These work assignments, however, come with escape clauses that all inmates must sign. Due to the nature of their duties, security measures in these areas are often limited.
