Arrest Made in Halloween Night Shooting Death of 17-Year-Old in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — An arrest has been made in connection with the tragic shooting death of a 17-year-old on Halloween night, according to the North Las Vegas Police Department.

The suspect, a 16-year-old male whose identity has not been disclosed, has been taken into custody. He now faces several charges, including carrying a concealed weapon, discharging a firearm at an occupied vehicle, and being a minor in possession of a firearm.

The incident took place in the late evening hours of October 31, 2022, in the vicinity of Shadow Oak and Spotted Pony drives. Upon receiving a distress call, North Las Vegas Police officers promptly arrived at the scene where they discovered the victim, SeMauri Norris-Johnson, suffering from a gunshot wound. Sadly, Norris-Johnson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, the incident unfolded when a group of masked teenage boys approached two unsuspecting trick-or-treaters. A confrontation ensued, resulting in gunfire that tragically claimed the life of Norris-Johnson.

Prior to the arrival of law enforcement, the individuals involved in the shooting fled the scene. The North Las Vegas Police Department has provided descriptions of the two individuals believed to be responsible for the attack. One of them was dressed entirely in black, carrying a red backpack, and wearing a black ski mask. The other suspect wore a white “Scream” mask.
