Man Arrested for Multiple Armed Robberies in Washington County Area

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – A man was taken into custody on Thursday morning in connection with a series of armed robberies that occurred across the Washington County area. These incidents have caused concern among the local community and law enforcement agencies.

The suspect was involved in two robberies that took place within minutes of each other during the night. At precisely 11:59 p.m., Tualatin Police responded to an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven located on Nyberg Street. The store clerk reported that an armed man entered the premises, demanded money, and swiftly fled in a vehicle.

Just 16 minutes later, at 12:15 a.m., the same suspect struck again at a Plaid Pantry in Tigard, using a firearm to intimidate the staff and absconding with the cash. The similarities in the descriptions provided by witnesses led investigators to believe that both incidents were perpetrated by the same individual.

Following a quick response, law enforcement officers discovered the suspect’s vehicle at an apartment complex located on 7875 Southwest Vlahos Drive in Wilsonville, shortly after 1 a.m. Determined to bring the culprit to justice, the police obtained search warrants for both the suspect’s car and the apartment.

During the execution of the search warrants, authorities apprehended the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Success Ben. Investigations have revealed that Ben is also responsible for at least two additional armed robberies involving firearms. These incidents occurred at the Sunshine Market & Deli in North Plains on January 14, 2024, and the 7-Eleven in Beaverton on October 2, 2023.

While it is too early to determine the full extent of the suspect’s criminal activities, there is a possibility that Ben may be linked to other similar cases in the region. Therefore, law enforcement agencies are working diligently to gather evidence and build a solid case against him. Should further connections be established, additional charges may be pending.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in any of the robberies. However, these incidents have left the affected communities on high alert, emphasizing the importance of public safety and the need for swift action to bring the perpetrator to justice.
