Hernando County Amazon Driver Arrested for Theft of French Bulldog
HERNANDO COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A shocking incident took place in Hernando County when a delivery driver for Amazon was arrested by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) on theft charges. The driver allegedly stole a French bulldog while on duty, delivering packages.
The incident occurred on December 23, 2023, when HCSO responded to a residence on Copper Hill Drive in Spring Hill after receiving a report of a stolen French bulldog. The dog’s owner informed the authorities that her dog, named Kali, went missing on December 22 around 9:15 a.m. She discovered the dog had escaped from the fenced yard of her home.
According to the dog’s owner, a neighbor witnessed Kali approaching a man driving an older model white Chevrolet Cruze. The neighbor noticed that the man was wearing an Amazon uniform, as detailed in a news release by HCSO posted on Facebook. The witness saw the Amazon driver, identified as 34-year-old Reinier Revilla, delivering a package to a nearby residence on Copper Hill Drive. The neighbor further stated that the man picked up the dog and placed it in the backseat of his vehicle before driving away.
Upon realizing her dog was missing, the owner initially contacted Amazon customer support to report the incident. However, she was advised to involve law enforcement. The owner provided the deputies with a photograph and description of Kali, valuing the dog at $4,000, according to HCSO.
On January 16, 2024, HCSO detectives proceeded to Revilla’s residence in Tampa to question him about the stolen dog. During the interview, Revilla admitted to taking the dog and confirmed that he still had Kali. Subsequently, deputies recovered Kali and returned her to the relieved owner later that day.
Following their investigation, the detectives obtained a warrant for Revilla’s arrest on charges of grand theft. Revilla voluntarily turned himself in to the Hillsborough County Jail on January 19 and was subsequently released after posting a $5,000 bond.
