Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace has confirmed the unfortunate demise of an individual whose remains were retrieved from the floodwaters on Wednesday night.
According to Wallace, emergency dispatchers received a distress call reporting multiple vehicles stranded in deep water along Piney Creek Road.
The incident occurred when a 74-year-old man attempted to retrieve his belongings from his submerged vehicle, only to go missing shortly after.
Promptly responding to the emergency, several agencies launched an extensive search operation to locate the missing man, later identified as Roy Beauchamp from Corrigan.
Tragically, Beauchamp’s lifeless body was discovered in the relentless currents and successfully recovered around midnight, Sheriff Wallace informed.
