THE VILLAGES, Fla. – A 73-year-old man has been apprehended after allegedly assaulting a female employee at a restaurant in The Villages, according to the authorities.
Stephen Serwo, a resident of The Villages, has been taken into custody and charged with battery, as confirmed by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday evening at around 7:30 p.m. at Cody’s Original Roadhouse.
According to the victim’s statement to the deputies, she witnessed a man, later identified as Serwo, entering the restaurant and engaging in an impromptu dance among the other patrons. Subsequently, Serwo proceeded towards the kitchen area, which is off-limits to the public.

As the victim attempted to explain the restricted access policy to Serwo, he allegedly struck her in the face, causing injury to her nose. Promptly, other employees of the restaurant intervened to prevent further harm. Fortunately, the woman declined medical treatment.
An eyewitness informed the deputies that he saw Serwo assault the woman and engage in a violent altercation with multiple other staff members, as described in the arrest report.
Following the incident, Serwo was located by law enforcement at a nearby establishment and subsequently taken into custody. During the arrest, it was observed that his right cheek appeared slightly red and swollen.
When questioned, Serwo claimed to have no recollection of striking anyone and believed that a business had conspired to steal his golf cart, with the employees being complicit in the alleged scheme, according to the report.
Additionally, he mentioned having consumed an alcoholic beverage at his residence but was uncertain of the time and quantity consumed.
Subsequently, Serwo was released from jail the following day after posting a $500 bond.
