Witness Statements & Surveillance Footage

According to the court documents, J.B., who was working at a kiosk inside the mall, was approached by a group of individuals wearing hoods and masks. Surveillance footage from the mall showed the group loitering near the kiosk prior to J.B.’s arrival. One of the individuals who approached J.B. has been identified as Yessa Nena.

It was reported by KSL.com that Nena had previously faced charges related to a gang-related shooting in Millcreek.

J.B. informed the police that he felt unsafe and decided to walk to his car. However, once inside his vehicle, he became concerned that if he drove away, the group would start shooting, as he had seen one of them holding a gun at their side.

Further examination of the scene by a Murray police officer led to the discovery of an empty 9mm Taurus handgun under a trash compactor, along with eight bullet casings.

Eight of these counts are for felony discharge of a firearm. The documents state that Ahmed knowingly fired the firearm, endangering others. Each of these counts is listed as a third-degree felony.
