Tampa Man Arrested After Shooting Following Disturbing Proposal to Date His Own Daughter

A shocking incident unfolded last week in Tampa, Florida, when a man was arrested after a shooting that occurred as a result of his disturbing proposal to date his own daughter. According to the police department, the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Michael Banks, was taken into custody following the incident.

The shooting took place at a home located along 23rd Street on January 17th, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. At approximately 12:43 p.m., police were alerted to the situation and arrived at the scene to find two female victims who had already fled the residence after sustaining gunshot wounds.

An investigation revealed that one of the victims was the mother of the shooting suspect, while the other was Banks’ own daughter. Both women informed the police that Banks was still inside the house, prompting the authorities to establish a perimeter around the property.

As officers surrounded the residence, Banks fired two rounds at an officer, leading the police to return fire. However, Banks eventually surrendered and was taken into custody. Fortunately, no officers were injured during the exchange of gunfire.

Upon further inspection of the residence, law enforcement officers discovered the lifeless body of another woman who was identified as the mother’s friend. The victim had suffered a gunshot wound to her head, adding another tragic dimension to the already devastating incident.

During the investigation, authorities uncovered a letter written by Banks to his daughter, in which he insisted that she enter into a relationship with him and not pursue other romantic interests. Attempted Double Murder

Banks confessed to detectives that he overheard the conversation between his mother and her friend, which fueled his sense of betrayal. In response, he retrieved a revolver from his room and proceeded to shoot at both women in an attempt to kill them. Shockingly, his daughter was struck by a bullet while she was taking a shower when the first shots were fired.
