Police Identify 25-Year-Old Victim in Fatal Burnaby Shooting

Surrey resident Johnson Viet Anh Do has been identified as the 25-year-old man who was tragically killed in a targeted shooting in Burnaby on Tuesday, January 23. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is now urging the public to come forward with any information that may help advance the investigation.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the 5500 block of Kingsway, near Denbigh Avenue. Responding to reports of multiple gunshots, police found Do inside his vehicle with severe gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, Do was pronounced dead at the scene.

In an effort to gather more information about the victim’s activities leading up to the shooting, IHIT has released Do’s name to the public. They are appealing to anyone who had recent contact with him to come forward and provide a timeline of his actions prior to the incident.

While investigators believe the shooting was targeted, a motive has yet to be determined. IHIT is working diligently to uncover the reasons behind this senseless act of violence.

If anyone comes across this vehicle, IHIT is urging them to immediately contact them. The timely reporting of any sightings could greatly aid in the progress of the investigation.

Authorities are also requesting individuals who were in the vicinity of Kingsway Avenue and Denbigh Avenue between 9 and 11 p.m. on January 23 to provide any relevant information or dashcam footage. This evidence could prove vital in determining the events leading up to the shooting.
