The incident took place just after 9 p.m. on December 31st, when officers from the Cocoa Beach Police Department responded to a report of a crash with multiple injuries on West Cocoa Beach Causeway, near Bicentennial Park. Unfortunately, one of the passengers, identified as 70-year-old Pamela Morrison from Barney, Georgia, succumbed to her injuries sustained in the crash.

The officers determined that one of the drivers, 36-year-old Mark Vannicola, was not only driving recklessly but also under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Vannicola was taken into custody and booked into the Brevard County jail on multiple charges, including DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, DUI with serious bodily injury, and being a habitual DUI offender. His bond has been set at $620,000.
