Man Arrested in Connection to Fatal Hit-and-Run in Irish Hill Neighborhood
A man has been arrested in Louisville, Kentucky, following a fatal hit-and-run incident in the Irish Hill neighborhood, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD). The arrest was made on Wednesday, bringing some closure to the tragic incident that occurred on January 18 at the intersection of Lexington Road and Payne Street.
The victim, identified as 31-year-old Michael Anthony Allen, was struck by a car at around 6:30 p.m. that evening. He was immediately taken to UofL Hospital, but sadly succumbed to his injuries. LMPD spokesperson, John Bradley, confirmed the devastating news.
The driver responsible for the accident did not stop and instead continued to drive along Lexington Road. However, thanks to the diligent work of LMPD officers and detectives, along with witness accounts and video footage, the suspect was apprehended on Wednesday afternoon.
The arrested individual has been identified as 23-year-old Criss Dzaringa. He is facing several charges, including leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid, no registration plates, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, and operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license. LMPD spokesperson, Dwight Mitchell, commended the investigative efforts that led to Dzaringa’s arrest.
