Joliet Police Arrest Girlfriend of Suspected Shooter in Southwest Suburb Massacre

The girlfriend of a man suspected in a tragic shooting that claimed the lives of eight people in Joliet, a southwestern suburb of Chicago, has been arrested by the local police. Kyleigh Cleveland-Singleton, 21, has been charged with obstructing justice in the ongoing investigation of the shooting, which has sent shockwaves through the community.

Authorities revealed on Wednesday night that Cleveland-Singleton and alleged shooter Romeo Nance, 23, shared a 3-year-old son. Nance, who took his own life on Monday night in Texas, is believed to have shot seven of his relatives to death. The Joliet police released a statement on social media, referring to the incident as a “reign of terror.”

According to the police, Cleveland-Singleton and her son were present in Plainfield on the night of the shooting. She willingly agreed to be questioned by the authorities regarding the deaths. However, investigators suspect that Cleveland-Singleton may have made statements to impede the suspect’s apprehension. Consequently, she now faces a charge of obstructing justice.

The Joliet police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the homicides of Nance’s mother, Tameka Nance (47), his aunt Christine Esters (38), his uncle William Esters II (35), his brother Joshua Nance (31), his sister Alexandria Nance (20), as well as his two younger sisters aged 16 and 14, whose identities remain undisclosed.

Investigation Continues

The motive behind Nance’s actions remains unclear at this stage, leaving many questions unanswered. The police are determined to uncover any relevant information that could shed light on this tragic event.
