Fairfield Woman Accused of Stealing from Elderly Residents at Butler County Senior Living Village

HAMILTON, Ohio – A Fairfield woman, Stephanie Moore, aged 37, has been indicted on multiple charges of theft from a protected class, misuse of a credit card, and receiving stolen property. These charges stem from her alleged actions while employed as an aide at Berkeley Square Retirement Community, a senior living village located in Hamilton, Butler County.

The indictment, as confirmed by Butler County Prosecutor Mike Gmoser, states that Moore is accused of stealing credit cards from two residents of the retirement community. The crimes occurred during two separate periods: September 8-28 and August 4-September 9. The fraudulent charges made with the stolen credit cards came to light when the daughter of a 91-year-old victim noticed unauthorized transactions at a Kroger store in Fairfield.

Prosecutor Gmoser revealed that the case is being handled by his office’s Crimes Against the Elderly Task Force, and the investigation was carried out by the Fairfield police.

In response to the allegations, Danielle Webb of Community First, the non-profit organization overseeing Berkeley Square, confirmed that Moore was employed as a state testing nursing aide but has since been terminated. Webb emphasized that the safety of residents is their top priority. She stated, “When a family member notified our team that they suspected theft, we contacted local authorities and worked closely with them throughout the investigation. The suspect, who was certified by the state of Ohio, was removed from our campus and has been terminated. Employees working on our campus must pass a background check as required by the state. We take any allegations very seriously and support prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.”
