GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Repeat Offender Arrested After Shooting During Altercation in Wayne County

A convicted felon has been apprehended following a violent altercation that resulted in a shooting incident in Wayne County on Wednesday evening, according to officials from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident unfolded around 8:50 p.m. when sheriff’s deputies responded to a disturbance call at 103 Rhythm Place in Goldsboro. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered a man who had sustained a minor ankle injury caused by a bullet grazing it.

Witness statements indicated that the victim engaged in a physical confrontation with the alleged suspect, identified as 44-year-old Tommy K. Mitchell. Deputies reported that during the altercation, Mitchell drew a handgun and discharged several rounds, one of which struck the victim’s ankle.
