A 19-year-old individual has been identified as the victim in a tragic incident of double shooting that took place on Monday afternoon near the Deanwood Metro station in Northeast D.C.

The Metropolitan Police Department in D.C. revealed on Wednesday that the deceased, identified as Tyreek Sheldon Moore, aged 19, from Northeast, was shot around 3:30 p.m. on Monday in the 4600 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast. Tragically, Moore succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Another male, who is a minor and has not yet been identified, was also shot during the incident. However, he was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Fortunately, his injuries are not life-threatening. The current condition of the injured individual is unknown at this time.

The two teenagers were traveling northbound in a stolen Kia on Minnesota Avenue when an unidentified vehicle pulled up beside them. At least one person inside the suspect vehicle opened fire on the victims.

The suspect vehicle, described by D.C. Assistant Chief of Patrol Services South Ramey Kyle on Monday as a “light-colored Acura sedan,” was later found abandoned in the Sixth District on Tuesday.

Following the shooting, several individuals who were inside the stolen Kia fled the scene. The police are now actively searching for these individuals as potential witnesses to the incident.

The investigation into this case is ongoing, and the authorities are working diligently to gather more information and evidence.
