Two Men Arrested After Shooting at Birthday Party in Osceola County

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Two men have been taken into custody and are facing charges after allegedly gunning down another man outside a house in Osceola County. The incident occurred during a birthday party celebration in Kissimmee, according to Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez.

The sheriff revealed that everyone in attendance at the party knew each other, except for one individual from Tampa who is now one of the suspects behind bars. Maximo Mercado Jr., 41, and Liam Nicholson, 28, have been charged with multiple offenses, including second-degree murder.

During a news conference on Tuesday, Sheriff Lopez stated that Mercado was identified as the person who shot and killed the victim, Steven Jesus Perez. “When you have dangerous individuals like these running around in our communities, incidents like this occur. Thankfully, they have been apprehended and are now behind bars. Hopefully, they will be incarcerated for a significant period of time because we do not need such individuals in our society,” Sheriff Lopez emphasized.

According to Sheriff Lopez, Nicholson also discharged his firearm during the incident, and both suspects fled to a nearby residence. Investigators discovered that Mercado had discarded the weapon in a pond near his house, but it was subsequently recovered by deputies.
