Tragic Incident in Kota: UP Student Found Dead in Hostel Room

In a shocking turn of events, a 19-year-old student from Moradabad district in Uttar Pradesh was found dead in his hostel room in Kota, Rajasthan. The deceased, identified as Mohammed Jaid, was preparing for his second attempt at the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) at a coaching institute in the city.

The Circle Officer of Jawahar Nagar area, DSP Bhawani Singh, confirmed the unfortunate incident. He stated that the police were alerted by the hostel warden after Jaid failed to come out of his room till Tuesday evening. The police were informed around 10 pm, and upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of the young student.

Authorities have taken custody of the body and it has been placed in the mortuary. The post-mortem examination will be conducted once Jaid’s parents arrive in the city. As of now, no suicide note has been recovered from the room, leaving the reason behind this extreme step unknown.

Kota, known as a renowned coaching hub, witnesses the influx of lakhs of students from all corners of the country each year, aiming to crack prestigious medical and engineering entrance exams. However, this academic pressure has also led to a distressing trend of student suicides.

Last year alone, Kota reported a staggering 26 student suicide cases, marking the highest figure in the history of the coaching hub.
