(Newport, N.H.) – In a tragic turn of events, a woman from Newport, New Hampshire, was discovered dead on Tuesday, prompting the arrest of another woman on charges related to drug trafficking. The Newport Police Department swiftly responded to a call reporting an unconscious individual at a residence on Sunapee Street. Upon arrival, both police and fire crews determined that the victim, identified as 33-year-old Maryanne Baldauff, had tragically passed away. While the cause and manner of her death are still under investigation by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the police have reassured the public that there is no immediate threat to their safety.

Following the initial investigation into Baldauff’s untimely demise, the police obtained a search warrant for a residence in Claremont. The execution of this warrant led to the discovery of illicit narcotics, including methamphetamine, 50 bags of fentanyl, crack cocaine, and various other prescription pills and drug trafficking paraphernalia. Consequently, the resident, 35-year-old Lisa Giannati, was apprehended by the authorities. Giannati now faces multiple charges, including possession of controlled substances with the intent to distribute and conspiracy to sell controlled drugs. She is currently being held in custody without bail as she awaits her arraignment.

Additionally, the police have issued an arrest warrant for 33-year-old Brittany Nolin, also from Newport. Nolin is wanted on the charge of falsifying evidence, further indicating the complexity of the ongoing investigation.

To shed more light on the circumstances surrounding Baldauff’s death and the suspected drug trafficking activities involving Giannati and her associates, a joint task force comprising the Newport and Claremont police departments has been formed. The investigation is still active and ongoing, as authorities diligently work to gather evidence and gather information related to the case.
