A Man from Malone, New York Arrested After Stealing Two Vehicles and Leading Police on High-Speed Chase

MALONE, N.Y. — A man from Malone, New York is facing multiple charges after police say he stole two vehicles and led law enforcement on a high-speed chase.

First Incident: Stolen Vehicle and High-Speed Chase

The first incident occurred on Friday, January 19th, around 2:45 p.m. Troopers quickly responded to Maplefields, located on East Main Street in the village of Malone, following reports of a stolen vehicle.

An investigation conducted by law enforcement determined that the driver, identified as Kyle Shearer from Malone, had stolen a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox from Maplefields. Shearer then proceeded to lead the police on a dangerous high-speed chase.

The pursuit resulted in multiple wrecked vehicles in the city of Plattsburgh, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Following the incident, Shearer was apprehended and handed over to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department. He was subsequently arrested, arraigned, and later released.

Second Incident: Another Stolen Vehicle and Another High-Speed Chase

On Sunday, January 21st, troopers were actively searching for another stolen vehicle, which had been reported missing from Tractor Supply on State Route 11.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., law enforcement located the stolen vehicle, a red, white, and blue Ford F250, in Malone. They attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop; however, the driver, later identified as Kyle Shearer, failed to comply with the authorities.

Once again, Shearer initiated a high-speed chase, putting himself and others at risk. During the pursuit, Shearer’s reckless driving led to multiple collisions, including striking a light pole, a fire hydrant, and even colliding with a memorial at the corner of Elm Street and State Route 11.

After a dramatic chase, law enforcement successfully apprehended Shearer. He now faces a string of serious charges, including grand larceny, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, and driving while intoxicated.

Collaborative Efforts in Apprehending the Suspect

The State Police received valuable assistance from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department and the Malone Village Police Department in apprehending Shearer and bringing the high-speed chase to an end.
