Man Arrested for Breaking & Entering and Larceny in Stony Point

A 27-year-old man from Stony Point, identified as Jacob Lloyd Fountain, was apprehended by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers on various charges. Fountain faces two felony counts of breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, two counts of misdemeanor larceny, and one misdemeanor count of attempted breaking and entering to a motor vehicle.

Suspicious Activity Reported

On Sunday, January 21, a deputy responded to a call regarding a suspicious person on Harris Bridge Road. Upon arrival, the officer engaged in a conversation with the homeowner to gather information about the situation. Together, they reviewed surveillance footage, which revealed that a chainsaw had been stolen.

Investigation and Arrest

In response to the incident, deputies immediately initiated a search of the area. During the search, a siphon hose and a gas can were discovered, indicating that the suspect had been stealing gas from vehicles on the property. The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team Deputies and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol were called in to assist, and a perimeter was established.

Utilizing advanced technology, the Sheriff’s Office Drone Unit was deployed to aid in the investigation. Additionally, Sergeant Hodges and his K9 officer were dispatched to track down the suspect. After a thorough search, the deputies found Fountain emerging from a wooded area on Harris Bridge Road, just moments ahead of the K9 officer. Fountain was promptly apprehended.

Recovery of Stolen Property

Following the arrest, the K9 officer successfully located the stolen property in the nearby wooded area. This evidence further solidified the charges against Fountain.

Legal Proceedings

Jacob Lloyd Fountain is currently being held in the Iredell County Detention Center under a secured bond of $12,500. As of today, January 24, he remains in custody. Fountain is set to appear in District Court on February 7 to face the charges brought against him.
