HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) – A Hattiesburg man has been taken into custody in connection with a terrifying home invasion incident that occurred on Tuesday. The Hattiesburg Police Department swiftly responded to a distress call reporting the incident, which took place in the 400 block of Mable Street.
According to the authorities, 39-year-old Cody Daniel Johnson of Hattiesburg unlawfully entered the residence and confronted the homeowner, demanding money. However, the courageous victim bravely fought back, managing to force Johnson out of the house.
Responding officers found Johnson a short distance away from the targeted property, sporting a noticeable laceration on his forehead. To ensure his well-being, Johnson was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he received the necessary medical attention for his injuries before being taken into custody.
Following the incident, the Hattiesburg Police Department wasted no time in bringing justice to the situation. Johnson now faces charges of home invasion and aggravated assault. He has been placed under arrest and is currently being held at the Forrest County Adult Detention Center.
