A Florida therapist specializing in anger management has been taken into custody after reportedly shooting and killing a man and hiding the body in the back seat of a hatchback vehicle. The DeLand Police Department responded to a call on January 18, alerting them to an elderly man cleaning up blood in a front yard, claiming that he had killed someone. The caller informed the police that the man had placed the body in his car and driven away before returning to the scene later.

A subsequent call from a woman confirmed the murder and identified the perpetrator as Travis McBride, a 46-year-old resident of DeLand. The victim, 51-year-old Clinton Dorsey, was also named by the caller. Charging documents revealed that McBride had visited the woman’s house the day before the incident, seeking revenge against Dorsey for allegedly harming his dogs. McBride reportedly threatened the witness, warning her not to involve the police.

During the investigation, law enforcement noticed a significant amount of water drying up on the road, originating from a property on Frankfort Avenue in DeLand. They discovered a spent 9mm shell casing and droplets of what seemed to be blood nearby. An interview with a local transient led detectives to search for bloody clothing in a dumpster at a nearby car wash, but none was found. However, an unspent 9mm round with a matching shell casing was discovered, further linking McBride to the crime scene.

Police then approached McBride’s red Nissan Versa hatchback, where they found a white bucket, papers, a black backpack, a blue fleece blanket, and what appeared to be a body in the back seat. Despite their attempts to render aid, the individual was already deceased. McBride and Dorsey were known to each other and had an ongoing dispute, according to investigators.

He is currently being held without bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
