BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO) recently announced a major drug bust following a tragic deadly overdose incident. Malcolm Hall III, a 29-year-old suspect, is now facing multiple charges in connection with the case.

In September 2023, the EBRSO Homicide Division initiated an investigation into a fatal overdose. Through the examination of the victim’s cell phone data, authorities identified Malcolm Hall III as the alleged source of the supplied drugs.

Subsequently, deputies commenced an in-depth inquiry into Hall’s activities and successfully conducted two “controlled purchases” from him. During one of these purchases, fentanyl pills were obtained.

On January 23, 2024, the Narcotics Division, with the assistance of the EBRSO Homicide and EBRSO K-9 units, took Hall into custody. A search warrant was executed at his residence on Madison Avenue, which happened to be located approximately 150 feet from Madison Preparatory School.

Seized Contraband

• 6.6 ounces of fentanyl (approximately 1,848 lethal doses)
• 50.5 grams of methamphetamine

• 2.25 pounds of marijuana
• 46.9 grams of powder cocaine
• 3.2 grams of crack cocaine
• 2,198 dosage units of Ecstasy pills
• 1,525 dosage units of 325/10mg Oxycodone
• 2,105 dosage units of 30mg Oxycodone
• 51 dosage units of 15mg Oxycodone
• 22.5 dosage units of Alprazolam
• 3 dosage units of pressed fentanyl
• 26 cartons of THC vapes
• 3 packages of THC gummies
• 1 bottle of THC syrup
• Glock .40 caliber handgun
• Taurus 9mm handgun
• Taurus .38 caliber revolver
• Anderson Arms .556 rifle

The seizure included a substantial quantity of drugs, such as fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana, powder cocaine, crack cocaine, Ecstasy pills, and various forms of Oxycodone. Additionally, law enforcement confiscated THC vapes, THC gummies, THC syrup, and a range of firearms, including handguns and a rifle.

According to the EBRSO, homicide detectives have pending charges against Malcolm Hall III.

Charges and Arrest

Malcolm Hall III was apprehended and subsequently booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He now faces the following charges:

• Distribution of Schedule I Narcotics (2 counts, affidavit warrant)
• Distribution of Schedule II Narcotics (2 counts, affidavit warrant)
• Possession with Intent to Distribute (PWITD) Schedule I Narcotics (2 counts)
• Possession with Intent to Distribute (PWITD) Schedule II Narcotics (5 counts)
• Possession with Intent to Distribute (PWITD) Schedule IV Narcotics
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Violation of Drug Law in Drug-Free Zone
• Illegal Carrying of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
• Illegal Carrying of a Firearm with Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS)
