An individual has been apprehended by authorities after entering a church and brandishing a box cutter, thereby threatening one of its employees.

The incident unfolded on Monday evening at around 7:31 p.m. The Redwood City Police Department swiftly responded to a distress call reporting a subject menacing a staff member with a blade at the Street Life Ministries Church. This place of worship is situated approximately 30 miles south of San Francisco, California.

Following the confrontation, the suspect promptly fled the scene. However, a vigilant individual who witnessed the incident proceeded to tail the assailant. The vigilant citizen, who reported the incident to the authorities, continued tracking the suspect until police officers were able to locate him in a nearby neighborhood. The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Jorge Orozco, according to an official statement released by the Redwood City Police Department.

At present, it remains uncertain whether Orozco had any affiliation with the church, knew individuals within the establishment, or what his potential motivations were for threatening the employee.

The Redwood City Police Department stated, “Once Orozco was approached by the authorities, he cooperated without resistance. A box cutter was discovered in his possession. Furthermore, he was positively identified by the victim as well as two witnesses.”

Fortunately, no injuries were sustained during the assault. Orozco has since been arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail. He faces charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon.
