Arrest Made in Connection with Anaheim Hit-and-Run Incident
Police have made an arrest in connection with a hit-and-run incident that resulted in one fatality and left three others injured in Anaheim earlier this year. The suspect, Kien Do, a 54-year-old resident of Santa Ana, was recently taken into custody for his involvement in the crash that occurred on January 5 at approximately 5 p.m. Do struck four pedestrians in two separate collisions near Disneyland.
Authorities were notified of the two hit-and-run incidents on the same day and dispatched officers to the 1800 block of S. Harbor Boulevard. Upon arrival, they discovered a critically injured woman, identified as 75-year-old Judith Stanford, near the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Convention Way. She was immediately transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after. Further investigation revealed that the same vehicle had struck three other individuals as they were crossing the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue before hitting Stanford.
One of the three victims sustained minor-to-moderate injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The remaining two victims suffered minor injuries and did not require medical transport.
Investigators managed to identify Kien Do as the driver nearly two weeks after the incident. On January 17, he was apprehended without any resistance in the city of Stanton. Do is facing multiple charges, including vehicle manslaughter, hit-and-run causing injury, and other undisclosed offenses. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office filed these charges against him on January 19, which also include assault with a deadly weapon. Currently, Do is being held without bail.
The Anaheim Police Department is urging anyone with additional information about the incident to contact investigators at (714) 765-1900.
