BPD Captures Suspect in Mid-Day Robbery

The Beaumont Police Department (BPD) has made a significant breakthrough in their investigation of a mid-day convenience store robbery that occurred on January 16. Authorities have connected the suspect to a previous crime, further highlighting the severity of his criminal activities.

According to BPD officials, the incident took place at approximately 2:55 p.m. when a white male in his 50s entered Speedway, located at 2795 Eastex Freeway, and robbed the clerk at gunpoint. The suspect made his getaway in a newer model black or dark gray Dodge van, deliberately concealing the license plates.

Later that night, BPD officers managed to locate the suspect at the Budget Inn situated at 5375 College Street. The individual, identified as 51-year-old Tarrell Donald Nowlin from Nederland, was apprehended and subsequently transported to the Beaumont Police Department for further questioning.

During the investigation, officers uncovered compelling evidence linking Nowlin to the convenience store robbery. Additionally, it was revealed that his vehicle may have also been involved in an aggravated robbery that occurred on January 13 at 1625 W. Cardinal Drive.

Further inquiries led detectives to discover that Nowlin was allegedly involved in a carjacking incident in Nederland earlier on January 16, around noon. As a result, Nowlin was promptly transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility, where he was booked in connection with the aggravated robbery at 2795 Eastex Freeway. BPD has indicated that charges related to the other crimes are pending.

The swift and successful capture of the suspect has brought relief to the Beaumont community, as law enforcement agencies continue to prioritize public safety.
