Tragic Shooting Incident Leaves One Dead and Another Injured in Moody, Alabama

MOODY, Ala. (WIAT) – In a shocking turn of events, a man allegedly shot his parents at their residence in Moody on Monday night, resulting in one fatality and one injured individual.

Police Respond to Disturbing Domestic Assault Call

At approximately 11 p.m. on Monday, the Moody Police Department swiftly responded to a distressing call for service regarding a potential domestic assault. The incident took place in the 800 block of Argo Margaret Road, causing immediate concern for the safety of the residents.

Gunshot Victims Discovered at the Scene

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers were met with a harrowing sight. Two victims, later identified as 61-year-old Joseph D. Bowlin and 60-year-old Connie L. Bowlin, were found with gunshot wounds. Tragically, Joseph succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on-site. Connie, on the other hand, was promptly transported to UAB Hospital, where she is currently receiving medical attention and is listed in stable condition.

Son Identified as the Suspect

Authorities have identified the alleged perpetrator as 35-year-old John Adam Bowlin, the son of the victims. The Moody Police Department has confirmed that John was taken into custody without incident, thanks to the assistance of the St. Clair County SWAT Team. He is currently being held with bond at the St. Clair County Jail, awaiting charges to be filed against him.
