Tragic Family Deaths in Norwich: Police Identify Victims

Norfolk police have officially released the names of the victims involved in a tragic incident that occurred last Friday in a house near Norwich. The deceased have been identified as Bartłomiej Kuczyński, a 45-year-old man, Kanticha Sukpengpanao, a 36-year-old woman, and two young girls, Jasmin Kuczyńska, aged 12, and Natasha Kuczyńska, aged nine.

Although formal identification is yet to take place, Norfolk police have confirmed the names of the victims in a recent statement. Bartłomiej Kuczyński and Kanticha Sukpengpanao are believed to be in a relationship, while the two girls are presumed to be Kucyzński’s daughters.

Postmortem examinations conducted on Sunday revealed that Sukpengpanao died due to stab wounds to the neck, while Kuczyński succumbed to a single stab wound to the neck. Postmortem examinations for the two young girls are scheduled for Wednesday.

The police have stated that they are not actively seeking anyone else in connection with this tragic incident. This declaration provides some reassurance to the local community, as they come to terms with the shocking events.

In an alarming revelation, Norfolk police have admitted to having prior contact with the household, prompting them to refer themselves to the police watchdog. On 14 December last year, officers had been involved in a missing persons inquiry at the Costessey residence, which is situated in a northwest suburb of Norwich.

The timeline of events leading up to the discovery of the bodies has raised concerns about the police response. Early on Friday morning, officers failed to respond to a distress call from the house at 6 am. It was only an hour later that the police finally responded to a concerned member of the public who had reported worrying signs from inside the house.

When the officers eventually gained entry to the property at 7.15 am, they made the gruesome discovery of the four lifeless bodies. This delay in response has raised questions about the effectiveness of the emergency services in handling urgent situations.

In light of these circumstances, the Independent Office for Police Conduct has launched an investigation into Norfolk Constabulary’s handling of the case. Charmaine Arbouin, the regional director at the watchdog, expressed sympathy for the families affected and emphasized the importance of determining whether the police’s actions were appropriate and aligned with their policies, training, and procedures.
