Discovery of Seven Bodies in Joliet
Earlier on the same day, officers in Joliet were called to the 2200 block of West Acres, where they discovered seven bodies. Two bodies were found in one residence, while five more were found inside another nearby home.
Motive and Relationship to Victims
Investigators have yet to determine Nance’s motive, but they suspect that he knew the victims. The victims, who appear to be members of the same family, have not been identified in terms of names, genders, or ages.
Previous Incidents and Warrant
Nance had been wanted in connection with two other incidents that occurred over the weekend in the same area. On Sunday, officers responded to a home on Pheasant Run Lane where they found a person with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim, identified as 28-year-old Toyosi Bakare, had recently moved to the area from Nigeria and succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
Nance was also wanted in connection with a shooting in the 200 block of Davis Street. The victim sustained a non-life-threatening leg injury on Sunday afternoon.
Linking Nance’s Car to the Crime Scenes
Authorities were able to link Nance’s red Toyota Camry to both crime scenes in Joliet, prompting them to order surveillance in the 2200 block of West Acres, where Nance resided. When there was no sign of Nance or his vehicle, deputies approached a home associated with the suspect and discovered blood on the door. Inside the home, they found two deceased victims. The other five victims were found at the first residence, although it’s unclear how long they had been deceased.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the motive behind these tragic events and any potential connections between Nance and the victims.
