The fatal crash occurred near the intersection of U.S. 17-92 and Prevatt Road at approximately 12:24 p.m.

According to the crash report provided by authorities, a Chevrolet Trailblazer towing a trailer was traveling northbound on U.S. 17-92, just south of Prevatt Road.

Simultaneously, a Harley Davidson motorcycle was heading southbound on U.S. 17-92, also south of Prevatt Road. Following closely behind the Harley Davidson was a Yamaha motorcycle.

Troopers state that the 74-year-old driver of the SUV, identified as a man from Fort McCoy, failed to decelerate or come to a stop for the halted traffic ahead of him in the northbound lane. Consequently, he swerved to the left, entering the southbound lane.

As a result, the front of the SUV collided with the front of the Harley Davidson. The Yamaha motorcycle subsequently crashed into the trailer being towed by the SUV. Both motorcyclists were ejected from their bikes.

Tragically, the 73-year-old driver of the Harley Davidson, an Ormond Beach resident, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The 71-year-old driver of the Yamaha motorcycle, also from Ormond Beach, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. However, medical personnel have since stabilized his condition.

The SUV driver, a 74-year-old individual whose name has not been released, sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
