Mother Protects Children as Man Drives Truck into Home and Attempts Attack

A shocking incident unfolded in Carroll County, Mississippi, as a mother bravely protected her children from a knife-wielding man who drove his truck into their home. Deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to a distress call on January 22, as the family sought refuge in their closet.

The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Steve Lamar Goss Jr. from Greenwood, was found with a single gunshot wound to his arm. He was immediately transported to Greenwood Leflore Hospital for treatment.

Authorities later discovered that Goss was out on felony bond for possession of a weapon by a felon at the time of the incident. As a result, he faced four counts of attempted murder and one count of burglary.

Upon arrival, they were met with a devastating sight – Goss had forcefully driven his 2500 GMC Pickup Truck into the dining room of the home, after failing to gain entry through the front door.

Investigators revealed that Goss had discovered the mother and her children hiding in a designated safe room closet. As he entered the closet, holding the knife, the mother courageously defended her family by shooting him. Goss fled the scene before being captured at Acy’s Store.
