The Will County Sheriff’s Office has revealed that an eighth person was also killed in a separate shooting on Sunday night. Authorities believe this incident is connected to the murders in Joliet. The victim, identified as 28-year-old Toyosi Bakare, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head in Unincorporated Joliet Township.

The investigation led deputies to identify a suspect vehicle that they believe is connected to both the Sunday night shooting and the tragic events on Monday. However, they have been unable to locate the suspect or the vehicle thus far. The suspect has been identified as Romeo Nance, a 23-year-old African American male. He is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall and approximately 160 lbs. Police believe he may be driving a red Toyota Camry with the license plate Q730412.

Deputy Sheriff Dan Jungles revealed that law enforcement had set up surveillance near Nance’s last known address, but there were no signs of him. After 12 hours of monitoring, deputies approached the residence and discovered two additional victims who had been fatally shot. They immediately contacted the Joliet Police Department.

In addition to the two homes where the murders occurred, law enforcement also searched a residence inhabited by some of Nance’s relatives. Tragically, five more victims were found dead at this location. The names, genders, and ages of all the victims have not yet been released.

Joliet Police Chief Bill Evans expressed his shock at the crime scene, stating, “I’ve been a police officer for 29 years, and this is the worst crime scene I’ve ever been associated with.” The community is devastated by the loss of so many lives and the senseless violence that has unfolded.

Authorities are urging the public to exercise extreme caution as they search for Nance. He should be considered armed and dangerous. If anyone spots him, they are advised to immediately call 911 or contact the Joliet police. It is crucial not to attempt to approach him under any circumstances.

While it is unclear at this time how Bakare is connected to the victims discovered on Monday, authorities believe there is a connection between him and Nance. The suspect is believed to have a criminal history, although further details have not been released. The FBI Fugitive Taskforce has been called in to assist in the search for Nance.

The Joliet Police Department is appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward. The community is encouraged to assist law enforcement in any way possible to bring justice to the victims and their grieving families.
