The tragedy occurred in Tinley Park, where a man contacted the police a little after 11:30 am. Upon arrival, the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, as confirmed by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The victims have been identified as Majeda Kassem, 53, and her three daughters, twins Halema and Zahia, both 25, and their younger sister Hanan Kassem, 24. According to the Daily Mail, the dispatcher initially reported that a male subject stated his wife had been shot before the line disconnected. The man was uncooperative during the call.

Authorities from the Tinley Park Public Safety Department determined that the incident was a “domestic-related shooting.” They found a suspect inside the house upon arrival, who was subsequently taken into custody. A gun was also discovered at the scene, as reported by the Chicago Tribune.

Following the arrest of the suspect, a statement was released stating, “The offender is in custody and the scene is secure. Due to the ongoing investigation, we are asking residents to stay out of the area.”

Charlotte Vaitkus, a neighbour who knew the family well, said, “My daughter knows them. She went to school with the oldest son, and she employed the twin sisters. She always talked about how they were all very intelligent and had very high goals in life.”

Village Manager Patt Carr assured the public that there was no danger beyond the home. “This was isolated to the home. The scene is secure. There is only one suspect at this time,” Carr said. “It’s a tragedy, not only for the family but also for all the surrounding neighbors.”
