Azusa Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle While Crossing Street

AZUSA – A tragic incident occurred in Azusa on Friday night when a 61-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. The victim has been identified as John Sigala of Avondale, Arizona.

The incident took place at the intersection of Irwindale Avenue and Roosevelt Street at approximately 10 p.m., according to the Azusa Police Department and the county Department of Medical Examiner.

Reports indicate that Sigala was crossing Irwindale Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle. Shockingly, the driver responsible for the accident fled the scene, leaving the victim in critical condition.

Emergency medical services were immediately summoned to the location, but tragically, Sigala succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Azusa police Lieutenant Jake Bushey stated that the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run incident was described as a compact car with significant front-end damage, possibly including a broken windshield.

The Azusa Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the collision to come forward and contact them at 626-812-3200. Cooperation from the public is crucial in apprehending the responsible driver and seeking justice for John Sigala.
