A shocking incident has unfolded in Georgia as a reigning beauty queen has been arrested and charged in the death of an 18-month-old boy. Trinity Poague, 18, was taken into custody on Friday, according to online Sumter County Sheriff’s Office jail records. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was called in to investigate the child’s death after being alerted by the Georgia Southwestern State University Police Department.

The tragic incident occurred on January 14 when the toddler, identified as Jaxton “JD” Williams, was admitted to Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus. Despite the efforts of the hospital staff, the young boy did not survive. GBI agents, after conducting interviews and examining evidence, arrested Trinity Poague in connection with the child’s death. It is worth noting that Poague is the reigning Miss Donalsonville, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.

Close family friend Cecilia Smith has set up a GoFundMe page to support the grieving father, Julian “Ja” Williams. Smith revealed that Poague was Julian’s girlfriend and that the child lived with his father full time. The shocking turn of events has left the community in disbelief, with Smith stating, “We are all very hurt and confused, just really in disbelief. Ja is trying to manage as best as possible, but it is obviously very hard on him. He doesn’t want to speak to anyone about anything right now.”

Trinity Poague, who graduated from Southwest Georgia Academy before enrolling at Georgia Southwestern State University, is currently being held at the Sumter County Jail without bond. She is facing charges of aggravated battery, cruelty to children in the first degree, and felony murder.

The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, and the GBI has urged anyone with information to come forward. If you have any details that may assist in the investigation, you can call 1-800-597-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online to the GBI.
