Man Arrested in Connection with Shooting in West Haven

A man has been apprehended by the West Haven Police Department in connection with a shooting incident that took place in the early hours of Saturday morning. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Robert McCray, was allegedly seen firing a handgun multiple times outside a residence on Third Avenue before returning inside.

According to the police, the incident was reported to authorities by a resident in the area who witnessed the gunfire and promptly dialed 911. Officers were dispatched to the scene at around 1 a.m. on January 20.

Upon arrival, the police surrounded the home and ordered all occupants to exit the premises. Thankfully, no victims were found during the search. However, law enforcement officers discovered several shell casings and bullet holes both inside and outside of the residence.

The crime scene was secured, and the West Haven Police Department’s Detective Division took over the investigation. McCray was subsequently arrested on multiple charges, including unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, reckless endangerment, violation of a protective order, and several other offenses related to the incident.
