The incident came to light when firefighters and sheriff’s deputies responded to a distress call at a residence on Hillside Estates Drive, situated east of Campo Road, on Friday afternoon. Upon arrival, they discovered the critically injured woman, later identified as Vicki Bodle. The preliminary investigation indicated that she had been subjected to a physical assault, as confirmed by sheriff’s homicide Lt. Joseph Jarjura.

Following the discovery, emergency personnel promptly transported Vicki Bodle to a nearby hospital. However, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, she tragically succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, as reported by Jarjura.
During the course of their inquiry, the deputies apprehended Vicki Bodle’s 53-year-old son, Travis, at their shared residence. Authorities confirmed that no other individuals were present at the time of the incident, and there were no additional victims. Initially, Travis Bodle was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder. However, after his mother’s unfortunate demise, the charge was elevated to murder. The motive behind the alleged assault remains unclear, and investigators continue to delve into the case, Jarjura added.
