Lake Elmo, MN (KROC-AM News) – Tragedy struck on Saturday evening in Washington County when a young child involved in a traffic crash passed away from her injuries. The victim has been identified as 5-year-old Morgan Rae Petersen, a resident of St. Paul.

The State Patrol reported that the incident occurred on eastbound Highway 36 in Lake Elmo. Petersen was a passenger in a vehicle that had come to a halt in the left traffic lane. Another vehicle traveling at highway speeds crashed into the stalled car from behind, causing critical injuries to the young girl.
