NAGAPATTINAM: In a tragic incident on Sunday, a 49-year-old fisherman from Ramanathapuram district suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while fishing near Point Calimere. The deceased, identified as A Archis from Thangachimadam, was part of a group of eight fishermen who had set out to sea on January 17 from Pamban in an FRP motorised vallam boat.

Due to a fishing ban in effect in Ramanathapuram district, the crew had decided to steer the vessel towards Kodiyakarai for their fishing expedition.
