University of Illinois Police Investigate Death of Student on Campus

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — University of Illinois Police are currently conducting a thorough investigation following the discovery of a deceased student on campus Saturday morning.

The student has been identified as 18-year-old Akul B. Dhawan. Both the Champaign County Coroner’s Office and University Police officials have stated that there is currently no suspicion of foul play in connection with Dhawan’s death, which is being regarded as an unfortunate accident.

According to the authorities, the investigation was initiated after Dhawan’s roommate reported him missing at 1:23 a.m. on Saturday. The concerned roommate informed officers that he had not seen Dhawan for approximately an hour and had been unsuccessful in reaching him via telephone.
