Red Bluff Man Arrested in Anderson Traffic Stop

ANDERSON, Calif. – In a recent traffic stop, the Anderson Police Department successfully apprehended a 34-year-old man from Red Bluff, leading to the discovery of a loaded .22 revolver and over a gram of methamphetamine. The incident took place on Thursday evening in the 2300 block of Balls Ferry Road, where officers conducted a routine stop on a Chrysler 300 with expired tags.

The passenger of the vehicle, identified as Damien Jones, was found to be on active post-release community supervision for possessing ammunition as a prohibited person. The officers promptly engaged their K9 unit, Rip, who detected the scent of narcotics emanating from the vehicle.

Subsequently, a thorough search of the vehicle led the officers to discover a loaded .22 revolver concealed between the front passenger seat and the center console, precisely where Jones had been sitting. The discovery raised suspicions further.

Upon conducting a personal search of Jones, the officers found approximately 1.5 grams of methamphetamine tucked away in his pants pocket. With the evidence in hand, the Anderson Police Department wasted no time in taking Jones into custody.

Following his arrest, Jones was booked into the Shasta County Jail, facing a range of charges, including possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a controlled substance, and violation of post-release community supervision.
