Wisconsin Police Officer Arrested for Allegedly Beating and Choking 7-Year-Old Girl

A police officer from Wisconsin is facing serious charges of felony child abuse after allegedly beating and choking a 7-year-old girl. According to court documents and local media reports, Frank Williams, a 30-year-old officer with the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD), has been charged with one count of felony physical abuse of a child and one count of felony strangulation and suffocation.

Recently, the MPD released a statement confirming the arrest of an officer as a suspect in a child abuse case. The officer has been placed on full suspension pending further investigation. The incident has raised concerns about the well-being of the victim, who is a relative of Williams but remains unnamed. The extent of the injuries inflicted upon the young girl is yet to be determined.

Newsweek reached out to the MPD for comments and updates on the case, but no response has been received so far. It is also unclear if Williams has retained legal representation at this time.

Investigation and Alarming Details

The incident came to light when MPD Sergeant Zachery Thoms responded to a report of child abuse at the emergency room of Children’s Wisconsin on January 17. During the investigation, Thoms met with the 7-year-old victim, who exhibited visible signs of abuse, including several bruises on her thigh and arm.

According to the criminal complaint, the girl revealed that Williams had beaten her with a thick belt the day before when she was supposed to be taking a nap. Furthermore, she disclosed that the officer had put his hands around her throat, choking her to the point where she struggled to breathe. Shockingly, the girl mentioned that this was not the first time Williams had choked her.

The young victim recounted that during the incident, Williams reprimanded her for talking back. Fleeing from the room, she sought refuge in the hallway. The girl claimed that a woman and a 4-year-old boy were present during the encounter. The woman allegedly told her to stop moving, while Williams dismissed her pleas and continued the assault.

In a distressing revelation, the girl stated that after assaulting her, Williams turned his attention to the 4-year-old boy, striking him with the same belt. The cries of the little boy echoed through the room.

It remains unclear how the girl was transported to the hospital and whether the boy sustained any injuries. The identity of the woman mentioned by the girl has not been revealed in the criminal complaint.

Legal Proceedings and Officer’s Background

Following the investigation, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office formally filed charges against Williams. However, it was reported that he was released from custody on Saturday morning, as stated by the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.

Frank Williams joined the MPD as a recruit in 2016 and has been serving as a police officer since then, according to local station WITI.
