GULFPORT, Mississippi Woman Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Son and Concealing Body

GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX/Gray News) – Authorities have apprehended a Mississippi woman accused of killing her son and concealing his body in a container concealed behind a deceptive wall.

On Saturday, Jerri Lynn Isreal, a 66-year-old resident of Gulfport, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder following an extensive investigation that commenced on December 22. The investigation began when law enforcement received reports of a potential missing person.

Throughout their inquiry, detectives noticed inconsistencies in the statements provided by Isreal. Her level of cooperation decreased over time, and she altered her statements on multiple occasions, raising suspicion.

Authorities discovered that Isreal had been previously arrested and convicted of murder in Florida back in 1995. During that incident, she made several attempts to dispose of the victim’s body at various locations across the state.

Armed with this knowledge, detectives obtained a search warrant for Isreal’s residence.

On Thursday, law enforcement executed the search, during which Isreal consumed a dangerous quantity of pills, necessitating her immediate hospitalization.

The search of the premises led to the discovery of a “military locker-style container” concealed behind a false wall. Tragically, the container contained the lifeless body of 42-year-old John Allen Gaither, who was identified as Isreal’s son.

Following processing, Isreal was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where she will be held without bond pending further legal proceedings.
