Patna: Ahead of the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, a man, claiming to be a close aide of notorious gangster Dawood Ibrahim, made a threatening call, mentioning his intention to “blow up” the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22. The call, which was made three days prior to the event, was received on the emergency helpline number 112, and the person identified himself as Chhota Shakeel.

However, the Superintendent of Police of Araria, Ashok Kumar Singh, revealed that the caller has been identified as 21-year-old Intekhab Alam. Following his arrest from his residence in Balua Kaliyaganj, located within the Palasi police station area, Singh stated that Alam does not have a criminal record but appears to be mentally unstable.

“On January 19, Alam dialed 112 and claimed to be Chhota Shakeel, a close associate of Dawood Ibrahim,” Singh informed PTI.

In light of the sensitive nature of the issue, a case has been registered at the Palasi police station, and Alam’s mobile phone has been seized by the police, as mentioned by the senior police officer.

“As soon as the call was received, the cyber cell was informed. Further investigation revealed that the mobile number used for the call was registered under his father’s name,” added Singh.

Milind Raj, popularly known as ‘Lucknow’s Drone’ for his expertise in developing unmanned aerial vehicles, has voluntarily offered his assistance to the police in ensuring tight security in Ayodhya.

The temple town has witnessed increased security since Friday, in anticipation of the January 22 event, which will be attended by approximately 8,000 VIP guests. The UP Police has deployed personnel for land, water, and air patrolling in the city.
